Join us for a one-day Commercial Photography Workshop with Sam Nash on location in Cheltenham.

Sam Nash is an award-winning published freelance photographer with over 15 years of portrait and fashion photography, and moving image experience. Sam has worked for prominent names in the industry including Vogue and Audi and has covered high-profile events such as London Fashion Week. 

Sam has recently been awarded Master of Light with the prestigious lighting company, Rotolight. The title Master of Light is accredited only to a very select few whom have excelled in the world of photography.


Event Highlights

In this workshop you will learn about Commercial Portrait and Fashion photography. Sam will cover a wide range of topics within this field, including:

  1. Dealing with clients

  2. Setting the shoot criteria

  3. Planning your shoot

  4. Location selection

One, if not the most, important area to aid creating the right image is model communication and direction. Sam will put particular focus on this area during the workshop so attendees can experience the impact of this practically.

Our event sponsors, Canon, will be offering the use of their latest EOS R Mirrorless cameras and RF lenses.

Event Schedule

The workshop starts in the centre of Cheltenham at the Cosy Club for a welcome coffee and a discussion on the plan for the day. After a brief for the day, Sam Nash will go through the four points above before heading out into Cheltenham to start shooting. During the first session, Sam will focus on the key element of model communication and direction while allowing attendees to create some images.

There will be a hour long break for lunch (not included) and to have chance for you to review your images.

The afternoon session will be more open and for you to work with the models using Sam’s guidance on communication and direction. Sam will be on hand to help with the lighting if required.

Who should attend?

This workshop is open to all skill levels.

If you shoot portrait photography in a studio and/or location, this workshop will bring new elements to you and help you build a more commercial element to your photography. If you have shot portrait photography but interested to learn more, and potentially start a new career, then this would be a great start learning of one of the best in the business.


Can I bring my own Camera?

Canon camera owners are encouraged to bring their own cameras with them to the session. If there is a particular camera or lens you would like to use on the workshop, please let us know when booking. We will endeavour to accommodate all requests.

The workshop is not restricted to Canon users but there will be a wide range of EOS R Mirrorless cameras and RF lenses available to try.

All attendees will be required to bring their own memory cards.
