Diagonal Fisheye Lens

Capture immense and dramatic landscapes with the 15mm Sigma Diagonal Fisheye lens. With such a wide focal length this lens has a vast 180º angle-of-view that creates unique images with exaggerated proportions. This specialised lens is well suited to a range of exciting subjects including expansive landscapes, star-filled skies, creative portraits and stunning architecture.

Particularly Suitable for Astrophotography

Such a wide field of view and bright f1.4 aperture make this lens particularly well-suited to Astrophotography. Sigma has gone a few steps further, however, to make this the best lens for photographing stars. It features a built-in rear filter holder that can hold the gel-type ND filters used in astrophotography. At the front of the barrel, there is also a Lens Heater Retainer to hold a heat strip, preventing condensation build-up.

A unique Manual Focus Lock (MFL) switch is useful for disabling the focus ring and preventing it from being knocked when set to infinity. Furthermore, the specific glass composition of the lens ensures that bright points of light remain pin-sharp at all apertures and across the entire frame.

Exceptional Artistic Quality

Express your artistry with this wide-angle Sigma lens. Tested using Sigma’s proprietary MTF measuring system, the lens delivers outstanding quality across the whole frame even at f1.4. It is made up of 21 glass elements in 15 groups, including 4x FLD (“F” Low Dispersion) and 3x SLD (Special Low Dispersion) glass elements that effectively reduce sagittal coma flare, ghosting and other aberrations.

Pro Features

This 15mm f1.4 Art Lens is feature-packed with elements that make it suitable for both video and stills. Notably, the HLA (High-response Linear Actuator) motor acts with faster, quieter and more accurate focusing compared to a stepping motor. This latest addition to Sigma’s ever-developing technology ensures responsive focusing even when in movie mode.

Further pro-features include a special locking lens cap with a filter holder, an included tripod socket, customisable AFL buttons (compatible cameras only) and a weather-resistant construction. The built-in aperture ring can also be set to auto, clicked and de-clicked.

Absolutely it is! The extremely wide field of view and bright f1.4 aperture makes this a natural astrophotography lens. The built-in filter holder, lens heater retainer and manual focus lock take it one step further in being the best choice for reaching the stars.

What Sigma lenses are good for astrophotography?

What is a Diagonal Fisheye Lens?

A Diagonal Fisheye captures a roughly 180-degree diagonal angle-of-view, creating a greatly distorted view of the image periphery. With a diagonal fisheye lens, the image appears to curve around the central point. It is an effect that can often be seen in astrophotography and dynamic cityscapes.
