This ultra-wide-angle snapshot lens from Pentax delivers distinctive image renditions whether you are shooting close-range or wide-angle. Developed with the goal of providing a distinctive visual expression, the Pentax HD D FA 21mm f2.4ED Limited DC WR is the first in the D FA Limited series to feature a 21mm ultra-wide-angle – providing you with the equivalent 35mm full-frame experience.
Diverse shooting ability
This is the first in the D FA series to feature a 21mm ultra-wide angle. Providing an angle-of-view equivalent to a 35mm full-frame lens. The lens enables the capture of images with an exaggerated perspective by taking advantage of the ultra-wide angle. With just a 7cm close focusing range this lens is excellent for macro photography, creating sharp and clear images across the focus distance range. At infinity, the lens provides uniform image rendition even at the edges, without any trace of fuzziness often found on other wide-angle lenses.
Impressive Optics
Developed to put the highest optical quality in your hands, the HD D FA 21mm lens includes four ED and one Super ED glass element to ensure minimal chromatic aberration and to prevent colour bleeding. Additional glass within the lens construction includes a large-aperture negative meniscus, a biconvex aspherical glass mold and a high-refraction glass optical element. The front element has further been treated with PENTAX-original HD Coating, for supreme image performance. Compared with other conventional multi-layer coatings, this high-grade coating assures higher light transmittance with minimal reflectance, minimising flare and ghosting even in tricky lighting scenarios.
Focus Performance
The Pentax lens has a built-in DC motor to assure smooth, quiet autofocus operation with minimal operating noise. It also incorporates QFS/A (Quick-Shift Focus System) for instant shift to manual-focus mode without any focus mode switching operation after the subject is captured in focus by the camera’s autofocus system.
Beautiful Bokeh
One of the top performance points of this lens is its bokeh effects. Using Pentax’s newly designed diaphragm unit this eight-bladed circular diaphragm forms beautiful bokeh and light beams. Transforming your image into a unified piece.
Lens Design
Despite the high number of glass elements, the lens maintains a small overall size for optimal usage and transportability. The outer design of the lens is a precision-machined aluminium barrel that gives the lens a solid appearance. The silver variant also features anodized exterior parts. Airtight weather-resistance means that this lens is protected against sudden rain, mist and at splash-prone locations. The mount section to the camera body and other movable parts such as the focus ring are all designed to resist the intrusion of rain and water. Additionally, an SP (Super Protect) Coating repels dirt and stains from the front lens surface.
