Panasonic LUMIX launches their latest wide-angle prime lens for the Panasonic L-mount system, the LUMIX S 24mm F1.8mm lens (S-S24E). The third addition to the range of large-aperture lenses, the S 24mm F1.8 joins the S 85mm F1.8 and the S 50mm F1.8 lenses.
The LUMIX S24mm F1.8 lens is designed for full-frame mirrorless L-mount cameras such as the LUMIX S5 II. The wide-angle prime lens is ideal for landscape photography and for creative videographers. A great performer in low-light, the super-fast F1.8 aperture creates beautifully soft bokeh for the ultimate creative shot.

Portability is Key
Weighing just 310g, the LUMIX S24mm F1.8 lens seamlessly fits in with Panasonic’s lightweight and compact camera design that we’ve seen in the likes of the S5. This compact design concept keeps the complete camera and lens kit as portable as possible.
Smooth and Silent
The LUMIX S 24mm F1.8 offers a smooth and silent operation, handy for videographers and photographers alike. The lens is designed to work with the camera’s AF system and has a sensor drive at a max of 240 fps.
When working in the non-linear setting, focus is determined with a variable amount according to the speed of the rotation of the focus ring. When working within the linear setting, the focus is shifted with a designated amount according to the rotational quantum of the focus ring.
The sensitivity of the amount focus shift per rotational quantum can be selected from 90 degrees through 360 degrees.
Low-light Performance
Thanks to a maximum aperture of F1.8, the LUMIX S 24mm f/1.8 lens is a superb performer in low-light situations.
Video Recording Performance
The LUMIX S24mm f/1.8 features a mechanism that suppresses focus breathing. This feature, alongside micro-step aperture control, offers super-smooth exposure change that results in a professional quality of video recording.
Gimbal Friendly
Thanks to a similar build the LUMIX trio of wide-aperture lenses share a similar centre of gravity which allows for an easy switch of lenses for gimbal users, with minimal balance adjustments required.
Internal Build
Comprised of twelve lens elements in eleven groups, the lens includes three aspherical lenses, three extra-low dispersion (ED) lenses and one ultra extra-low dispersion (UED) lens. This design allows the lens to produce exceptionally high-quality images whilst also being able to effectively suppress chromatic aberration.
The lens features a 9-blade circular aperture diaphragm design that produces beautifully soft and rounded bokeh.
