Canon EOS R6 Mark II
Become the master of stills and video with the Canon EOS R6 Mark II. Designed to bridge the gap between the two mediums, this next-generation camera is made for tech enthusiasts and professionals who never compromise. The 24.2MP sensor works in tandem with the DIGIC X processor to power fast, high-quality imagery with impressive low-light performance, while the 6K oversampled to 4K60p video is stable and sharp.
The Canon EOS R6 Mark II is also available in the following versions:
- Canon EOS R6 Mark II with 24-105mm f4-7.1 IS STM Lens
- Canon EOS R6 Mark II with 24-105mm f4L IS USM Lens
Fastest in Class
If there is something that Canon knows how to do, it’s speed. The EOS R6 Mark II has a 40fps electronic shutter – the fastest in its class – and a 12fps mechanical shutter, for incredibly speedy shooting.
New faster readout speeds reduce rolling shutter from high frame rates and video in order to keep up with these record-breaking stats. RAW burst mode even allows for 30fps RAW capture, as well as a 0.5-second pre-capture to be one step ahead of the game.
The World’s Most Effective IS
Master the skill of handheld videography and slow shutter-speed photography. Combining the world’s most effective 5-axis In Body Image Stabilisation (IBIS) with Optical Stabilisation of up to 8-stops, the R6 Mark II is great for delivering crisp images even with handheld long exposures.
Deep Learning Autofocus
The Canon EOS R6 Mark II features the same autofocus system as the incredibly fast R3. Using their flagship AF system on this enthusiast's camera, the R6II now features Horse AF recognition, as well as Human, Left/Right Eye, Vehicles (cars, motorbikes, trains, aircraft) and Animals (dogs, cats, birds, horses).
Using the latest deep learning algorithms, the R6 Mark II is able to better detect and track its subjects. New intuitive auto-select AF for subjects reacts to what is in front of your camera to automatically select which subject AF mode to use. Removing a lot of the guesswork so you can focus purely on the moment.
In-Camera Focus Bracketing
Achieve perfect focus with in-camera focus bracketing. Ideal for tricky light situations, close-up macro work or for super in-depth images, this function can composite perfect focus throughout the frame.
Simply specify the focus range and number of shots, and the R6 Mark II will do the rest with a single press of the shutter. The final image is then combined in-camera for the final ready-to-go photograph.
Made for Challenging Light
Combatting difficult low-light environments is easy with the R6 II’s ISO range of 100-102,400 (expandable to L:50-H:204,801). The camera has an impressive AF working range down to -6.5EV for accurate focusing in dark scenes.
A Familiar OVF
The Canon EOS R6 Mark II features a new OVF with Optical Viewfinder Simulation in order to replicate a more familiar shooting experience for those used to DSLR cameras. Switching to this mode offers a seamless transition for those moving over to the mirrorless system.
6K Video Oversampled to 4K60p
Capture incredible 4K60p video, oversampled from 6K to use the entire sensor, the simultaneous Dual Pixel CMOS AF II focusing creates impressive results while the Full HD 180p is for super slow motion. 6K60p ProRes RAW is also available via HDMI. Make use of the full AF detect modes with all subject detect modes, including auto, supported while in video mode.
The R6 II has no movie-record limit – so long as your battery, or memory cards can keep up, you can keep recording. As you record with no limits, make full use of the camera’s pro-video functions including Movie Pre-Recording which continuously streams footage while on standby, capturing footage up to 5 seconds before the video record button is pressed. False Colour creates the perfect exposure settings, and the multi-function shoe grants access to professional audio connections.
Detect Only Movie Servo AF
Frame the focus exactly how you want with the Detect Only option. A technology familiar to those with Canon Cinema cameras, this new Movie Servo AF option will only focus on the selected subject, and if the subject leaves the frame, it will not attempt to refocus.
Focus Breathing Correction
Maintain a consistent field of view with the camera’s focus-breathing correction. Digitally compensating for minute but noticeable changes as a lens moves through significant focal ranges. With this feature turned on the camera produces video more akin to that made with a cinema camera and lens.
Quick Control Menu
As seen on the Canon EOS R5 C, the R6 Mark II has a Quick control video screen which allows for easy video function changes. Adjust settings such as Logs, frame rates and the Q menu from one place.
Highly Connected
Remain connected and transfer files quickly with the 5GHz Wifi and Bluetooth 5.0 system. A wired USB connection of Apple MFI (for iPhones) can also be connected for data transfer to the newly designed Camera Connect App (ver.3.0.0).
The Canon EOS R6 Mark II can also be used as a high-quality webcam or streaming camera via the UVC.
Designed to Last
The body of the R6 Mark II has been redesigned to keep up with the current demands of hybrid shooters. The new Video/Photo switch demonstrates this the best, allowing access to the full mode dial in either medium, for better control.
A new On/Off/Lock switch also makes fast-paced shooting conditions easier to deal with, with the option to Lock your settings in place once perfected. Further custom buttons allow you to set the camera up to make it work for you, while the redesigned multi-controller makes selection choices much easier.
The body itself is made of a durable yet lightweight magnesium alloy chassis that is designed to thrive wherever you take it. The R6 II can also maintain an extended battery life despite using the same battery as the original R6 model. An advanced overheat management system cares for the camera’s response to rises in temperature, notifying you of when overheating may become an issue.
Multifunction Shoe
Another feature to come over from the EOS R3, the R6 Mark II has a new multifunction shoe which allows a wide range of accessories to be used with the camera. Accessories such as the DM-E1D digital microphone and Tascam XLR adapter can be mounted to record high-quality sound or Speelights such as the EL-5 for flash lighting.
