THE Tamron 70-180mm f2.8 Di III VDX Zoom Lens is the third in their line-up of fast F2.8 zoom lenses created for the Sony FE Mount. It has a continuous f2.8 aperture throughout the zoom range and weighs only 810g.
This lens is perfect when partnered with the 17-28mm f2.8 and the 28-75mm f2.8.

The lens offers a fast aperture of f2.8 throughout its versatile 70-180mm zoom-range while remaining compact and lightweight.
Weighing only 810g and measuring just 149mm (at 70mm setting) this lens has been designed to work perfectly with the supreme compactness of today’s generation of mirrorless cameras.
High-speed and high-precision autofocus performance
Tamron has developed the VXD (Voice-coil eXtreme-torque Drive) their first-ever linear motor AF drive focus mechanism, especially for the 70-180mm f2.8 lens. Delivering fast and precise AF performance, the drive also maintains positional accuracy down to 0.005mm, less than one-tenth the width of a human hair!
A floating system that uses two high-speed, high-precision VXD units aids in producing clear and beautiful images of all objects from near to far and at the same time helps reduce size and weight.

The enhanced, highly-responsive focus features of the 70-180mm f2.8 provide users with a whisper-quiet, high-precision shooting experience that is perfect for both still images as well as video.
Uncompromised image quality
The lens is constructed of 19 elements in 14 groups to correct chromatic aberration and maintain very high-resolution performance from edge-to-edge. Ghosting and flaring are minimised thanks to the BBAR-G2 (Broad-Band Anti-Reflection Generation 2) coating to produce stunning, clear images with brilliant, sharp subject detail.
67mm filter diameter for system convenience
The Tamron 70-180mm f2.8 Di III VXD Zoom Lens features the same 67mm filter diameter as the 17-28mm f2.8 and 28-75mm f2.8 allowing you to use the same filters and lens caps across the range of lenses.
Close focussing up to 0.27m
The lens has a MOD of 0.85m throughout the entire zoom range and is capable of shooting up to 0.27m when at the 70mm focal length and manual focus (MF) is set on the camera.
Moisture-Resistant Construction and hydrophobic Fluorine Coating
The lens is resistant to fingerprints and dirt thanks to its Moisture-Resistant Construction and hydrophobic Fluorine Coating.

The lens is compatible with many of the advanced features specific to certain mirrorless cameras including:
