Sony A9 II Digital Camera Body
The Sony a9 II (ILCE-9M2) is a full-frame Alpha interchangeable lens camera. It has been made for the pro’s and has taken leaps and bounds since the last a9 mirrorless cameras. Blackout-free 20fps continuous shooting and AF and AE tracking with 60 calculations a second are just a couple of the exciting new highlights.
Advanced, high-speed performance
Featuring a 35mm 24.2-megapixel Full-Frame stacked Exmor RS CMOS sensor; the a9 ii has unmatchable image quality and performance in its league.
The awesome electronic shutter will continuously and silently shoot at 20 frames per second up to 239 compressed RAW or 361 JPEG’s in a burst. The top-spec viewfinder will keep up with the action and you won’t experience any blackouts. This means you can trace your subject with ease using the Electronic Viewfinder.
Superb IBIS and improved AF/AE
An upgrade to the BIONZ X processing engines makes for a much faster sensor readout speed. This means the processor harmonises with the front end LSI to give enhanced features like Autofocus/exposure detection power. It also means that image processing plus subject face detection have been hugely improved.
New shutter systems mean that motion blur is near irradicated from hand movement. Paired with the 5 axis IBIS and the camera will achieve a shutter speed advantage of up to 5 and a half steps.
693 focal-plane phase-detection AF
An up-to-date focusing system is formed from an impressive 693 focal-plane phase-detection autofocus points. These cover approx. 93% of your image area. 425 contrast AF points also add to the high performance of a9 II’s autofocus.
Unsurprisingly, the performance of the AF system achieves incredible accuracy and speed. This makes it perfect for any sports, events, nature and more! Real-time animal Eye AF has had an overhaul with new algorithms. Regular Eye AF has left and right eye selection, giving you - the photographer - more control.
Touchpad focus control is workable through the viewfinder. This eradicates any chimping and allows you to concentrate on the task at hand.
Continuous real-time tracking AF is achieved even when shooting at greater than f16. Great for shooting at slow shutter speeds. It will calculate the AF/AE at 60 times per second. This is combined with new AF algorithms with upgraded AF precision and performance. Overall, this means that you can relax when shooting challenging subjects.
Anti-flicker shooting is great for sports, where the camera will auto-detect and compensate when you’re shooting in fluorescent and artificial lighting giving you the best image quality.
Refined operation
A new, ergonomic design to the camera body and buttons makes the a9 II smooth and pleasant to shoot with. Small touches have made a huge difference to the camera. A larger AF-ON button, improved joystick, exposure compensation lock plus a new rear dial shape and position. Overall it makes the a9 II a great handler.
