Introducing the Sigma fp
The world’s smallest and lightest full-frame digital camera
Compact and lightweight with a full-frame sensor
The Sigma fp is the world’s smallest and lightest full-frame mirrorless camera. Weighing just 422g, battery included, and measuring in at 112.6×69.9×45.3mm, this camera is small enough to take with you anywhere and reap the benefits of full-frame quality images thanks to its back-illuminated 35mm full-frame Bayer sensor with 24.6 effective megapixels.
Compatible with L-Mount lenses
The Sigma fp is an interchangeable lens camera that is compatible with L-Mount lenses. When used in conjunction with the Sigma Mount Converter MC-21 you will be able to use Sigma SA-Mount lenses as well as Canon EF-Mount lenses. This extends the number of lenses that can be used with the camera significantly.
Designed for videography as well as photography
It is possible to switch between Cine and Still modes with the flick of a button. Each mode has a dedicated control system and screen display to allow you to check information and displays on the screen that is necessary for specific scenes.
Heat sink structure
The camera is able to achieve highly effective heat dissipation thanks to a large-size heat sink mounted between the LCD and camera body, as well as a heat dissipation coating that prevents overheating.
Dust and splash-proof
A dust and splash-proof sealing have been applied to 42 points of the camera body. When used with a lens that is also dust and splash-proof you can use this camera in even the most challenging of weather conditions.
Full-time electronic shutter
The absence of a mechanical shutter allows the user to be “able to shoot whenever you want, wherever you want” for quiet shooting in all situations. There is no shutter shock even when shooting up to 18fps in continuous shooting mode. This lack of noise and shake will also have huge benefits when shooting video.
Superior options in artistic picture & video creations
As well as a number of different colour modes, there is the introduction of the “Teal and Orange” mode, a colour grading that is hugely popular in Hollywood films and also with content creators.
There is also a “Fill Light” function that is available in-camera as well as “Tone” and “Colour” buttons that allow quick access to the tone control and colour mode menus.
The Sigma fp has a number of advanced functions including;
- Auto HDR takes multiple images at different exposures and then merged into a single image or video for High Dynamic Range.
- Cinemagraph allows the user to create an animated GIF in-camera.
- Face/Eye Detection AF allows the user to automatically focus on the eyes of the model instantly and precisely.
- Focus Peaking helps the user to ensure the image is focussed properly when used in manual mode.
- Director's viewfinder There is a director’s viewfinder function that allows the user to simulate different angles of view and how an image looks, on cinema cameras.
Note: The Auto HDR function in the Cine mode and the Cinemagraph function are to become available via a firmware update scheduled at a later date.
Perfect for filmmaking
The video capabilities of the fp are not to be overlooked. The camera is capable of 12-bit CinemaDNG external recording and can record at 4K UHD/24 fps to capture video that is perfect for filmmaking. It also supports ALL-I recording, which makes it possible to maintain high image quality while reducing file size, allowing light data available for recording and editing.
Note: The feature of playing CinemaDNG footages in-camera is to become available via a firmware update scheduled at a later date.
