Design and Build
The design is based on Sigma’s signature Art series, carrying the same level of professional optical performance. Keeping in-line with the Contemporary line’s core concept, this lens was designed to offer the perfect balance between performance and portability.
With the slightly less wide-angle than that of the Sigma 24-70mm f/2.8 DG DN Art series, the 28-70mm f/2.8 DG DN Contemporary is able to be much shorter in length and therefore much lighter. The lens is the smallest and lightest in its class and features just one lightweight focusing element, which helps to keep the AF unit small.
Weighing 470g, the Sigma 28-70mm f2.8 DG DN Contemporary lens is suitable for everyday use. The mount is dust and splash-proof so the user has peace of mind when changing their camera over to this lens. When mounted to mirrorless camera systems such as the Sigma fp, the combined weight is just under 1kg, which gives photographers and filmmakers the ability to capture their creative vision.

Performance and Technology
The lens features an advanced optical design, compromising of three aspherical, two FLD, and two SLD elements. The lens design produces images that are uniformly sharp across the whole of the frame.
Flare is controlled in backlit conditions thanks to the Super Multi-Layer Coating and Nano Porous Coating, resulting in high-contrast results.
A 9-blade rounded design allows the lens to create beautifully soft bokeh. The lens also features internal focusing along with a stepping motor and is compatible with high-speed autofocus.

The lens comes in both full-frame Sony E mount and L-mount which covers the L-mount alliance of Panasonic, Sigma and Leica.
