Samyang MF 14mm F2.8 MK II Lens
The Samyang MF 14mm f2.8 MK II is the next generation of the well-loved original. Its 115.7˚ super-wide-angle and f2.8 aperture makes this an excellent landscape, interior and astrophotography lens.
This full-frame lens boasts new features such as De-click and Focus Lock to give the user more control over the lens settings and produce great image quality. New weather-sealing also is a must-have improvement over the MK I for photographing the great outdoors.
Available for Canon and Nikon cameras
Designed for stunning imagery
The MF 14mm f2.8 MK II lens is built up of 14 elements in 10 groups. 3x Refractive Lenses, 1x Hybrid Aspherical Lens, 1x Aspherical Lens, and 2x Extra-low Distortion lenses. This combination of glass creates crisp, vibrant images and corrects any chromatic aberration or distortion.
The 9 aperture blades produce excellent bokeh and an 18-ray starlight effect. This lens also produces images with the classic, well-saturated colours we have come to expect from Samyang lenses. Crisp image quality across the frame makes it perfect for landscape photography. Whilst flare is controlled by Samyang’s ultra-multi-coating (UMC) technology.
Performance and Technology
The main new features of the Mark II are Focus Lock and De-click. Focus Lock allows the focus to be set in place which can be a necessity for time-lapses and astrophotography. De-click allows smooth and minute aperture adjustments without clicking through the steps, giving full creative control. Alternatively, when set to click, the micropatterned rubber ring will click in half-stop increments. Both of these features are adjusted by individual rings on the lenses.
The built-in petal-shaped hood blocks unnecessary light for maximum image quality and protects the glass. When wide open the lens can vignette, this can be corrected in post-production or kept in, depending on each individual’s taste.
The manual focus ring has a minimum focusing distance of 28cm to an infinite maximum. The exclusion of autofocus keeps the lens lightweight and compact as well as honing back in on the photographic process.
Astrophotography on a budget
This lightweight, wide-angle lens is perfect for astrophotography and landscapes. The ultra wide-angle manual focus allows impressive scapes to be captured in one shot. Opening up the aperture to f2.8 will allow large quantities of light into the lens, ensuring every single star shines. Additionally, the weather-sealed connection between lens and camera gives the user confidence to take this lens out in all weathers.
