The AF 24-70mm F2.8 is Samyang’s first autofocus zoom lens. Designed for the Sony FE mount, this lens takes full advantage of Sony’s powerful full-frame sensors. Optimised for video as well as photo, this Samyang lens stands apart from the crowd. Plus, with its bright F2.8 aperture, wide-angle view and useful focal range, this is due to be the most versatile and universal lens of all time.
Video optimised
Samyang has designed this lens to match the versatile creative needs of hybrid photographer-videographers. Rather than buy two lenses for each craft, this lens can do it all.
Par-Focal – A feature that is typically only seen on expensive cine zoom lenses, this nifty 24-70mm can maintain focus on the subject when zooming in and out. An incredibly useful feature for videography.
Cinematic Video AF – The autofocus speed is carefully controlled during video recording. Focus wobble is reduced making stable video recording a breeze.
Linear MF Focus Control – The torque of the focus ring matches that of a manual focus lens when recording in manual focus mode, providing convenience and accuracy to video shooters that use these lenses.
Cine Kit – Compatible with Samyang’s Cine Kit equipment (sold separately) for a seamless system exchange.
Bright aperture and optics
This wide-angle and bright aperture lens is a staple to any photographer’s kit bag. The Samyang lens in particular has a combination of 17 elements in 14 groups that work seamlessly together to create high-quality imagery. Special lens elements include 2x Aspherical, 1x Hybrid-Aspherical, 3x High Refractive and 3x Extra-Low Dispersion lenses. Additionally, a UMC (Ultra Multi-Coatings) has been applied to minimise any aberration and unnecessary light dispersion. It is the ideal lens to pair with the high-quality sensors of Sony’s full-frame mirrorless cameras.
Autofocus made for video
The autofocus is video optimised meaning that it is smooth, quiet, accurate and quick. Using an STM (Stepping Motor) allows for a larger and heavier focus lens group to be controlled with improved accuracy. This returns excellent image quality that is pin-sharp every time, and unnoticeable when recording.
Unique Bokeh
A large-diameter f2.8 aperture creates a smooth background blur that highlights the subject against any backdrop. The shallow depth of field achieved by the f2.8 maximum aperture creates unique images in which the background is pleasingly compressed. 9 aperture blades also create smooth and natural bokeh that splits light and adds interest to any image.
Custom Mode Switch
Featured on the lens is a custom mode switch that allows the adjustment of aperture with the focus ring. This is an ideal feature for any videographer. Alternatively, the function of this switch can be customised by using Samyang’s Lens Station to suit your individual needs, with more functions to be added through upcoming firmware updates.
Weather sealing
Considering improved usability, Samyang has constructed the AF 24-70mm F2.8 lens with weather sealing. It is resistant to light rain, snow and dust, granting you the freedom to create wherever inspiration hits. Additionally, a micro-pattern on the rubber focus ring is easy to grip and operate even when wearing gloves.
