Samyang AF 12mm f2 Sony E Mount
Samyang’s AF 12mm f2 Sony E Mount lens is their first APS-C Autofocus lens in the market. This super-wide-angle lens offers a bright f2 aperture, enabling fast shutter speeds perfect for astrophotography, landscape, and indoor photography.
It boasts to be the only ultra-wide-angle AF lens for APS-C mirrorless camera users and is the lightest and smallest AF 12mm currently on the market.
Photograph day or night with this compact and lightweight lens. Quiet and smooth AF, a short minimum focusing distance and weather sealing makes this a perfect lens for both stills and videography.
Capture the Night
The Samyang AF 12mm f2 is the perfect next step for astrophotographers who have loved their manual focus equivalent. When paired with an APS-C sensor camera it has an angle of view of 99.1°. Open the aperture wide to capture the galaxy and then add the convenience of the new autofocus system and this lens is perfect for astrophotography. Improved UMC has also been applied to the lens elements to prevent lens flare and ghosting for improved light transmission and contrast-rich imagery.
Landscape and Architecture
As well as astrophotography, this new Samyang lens is also perfect for landscapes and architectural photography. With a minimum focusing distance of just 19cm, you can easily capture close-ups and indoor images with reduced backlight haze. The super-wide-angle is perfect for indoor photography as it will be easy to photograph a room’s interior and still retain corner-to-corner sharpness.
Superb Resolution
Designed for the APS-C Mirrorless Cameras, the AF 12mm is constructed of 12 elements in 10 groups with 5 special lenses (1x H-ASP, 1x ASP and 3x ED). These extra-low dispersion and aspherical elements minimise chromatic aberration and distortion to capture pin-sharp images. Ultra Multi-Coating then also reduces glare. Add these elements together and Samyang has built a lens with exceptional image quality that is going to be better than any smartphone camera.
Aperture
For creamy bokeh, this is the lens to buy. The 7 blades merge to produce large, round bokeh and effortlessly blurred backgrounds. Fast shutter speeds are guaranteed with this lens thanks to the f2 maximum aperture, even in dim light.
Manual to Auto Focus
Samyang’s newly researched and developed STM (Stepping Motor) autofocus system makes this prime lens next-to-silent when focusing. Making this ideal for videography as well as photography.
Weather-Sealed Design
Weighing just 213g and measuring only 59.2mm in length, this 12mm lens is super compact and portable and housed in all metal for extra protection. The sleek design with a matt black finish gives it a sophisticated and modern look. And has a laser-engraved font for easier reading even in low-light. The focus ring has a micro-pattern which improves grip for smooth focusing transitions and finally, a hidden red ring just above the focus ring is a classy touch added by Samyang.
An additional yet necessary feature of the 12mm f2 lens is advanced weather-sealing and rear-glass protection. It is weather-sealed in three different spots including at the base connector to prevent the infiltration of moisture and/or raindrops. The Samyang lens also has a filter thread size of 62mm so that filters can be added for both protection and creative purposes.
