Ricoh WG-80
Get creative in the wild with the new Ricoh WG-80 Digital Camera. This compact camera is designed to perform exceptionally in challenging environments, outperforming ordinary digital cameras and smartphones in the outdoors. Tough, submersible and freezeproof there is nowhere that the WG-80 camera cannot go.
Dive Deep for Two Hours
Designed with challenging and diverse environments in mind, the Ricoh WG-80 is a fully waterproof compact digital camera down to a depth of 14 metres (46 feet). It is ideal for underwater photography whether you are snorkelling at surface level or diving further below for up to two hours.
The camera is also packed with intelligent features that make the most out of photographing underwater. Using the special Underwater Shooting Mode colours are optimised and features sharpened for like life, vibrant images. Red tones (that are often lost underwater) are enhanced, whilst loss of contrast is improved by compensating for the scattering of light underwater.
Capture life under the sea with the smart flash function. Flash can be elected so that pictures are taken in succession with the flash off and then on. This prevents the fish from fleeing after the first shot, giving you an improved chance of getting the perfect image.
Heavy-Duty Body Construction
Made for the great outdoors, the camera’s renewed exterior design is extremely tough. Shockproof against falls from 1.6 metres, dustproof according to the IPX 6 or JIS Class 6, freezeproof down to -10ºC and shatterproof against weights of up to 100 kilograms. There is nothing that this compact camera can’t handle.
Superb Camera Performance
Using the back-illuminated CMOS image sensor the Ricoh WG-80 has excellent high sensitivity and low noise. With a high-speed readout of image data signals and a high-performance imaging engine, this camera is able to keep up with the action.
The camera has a super-high-resolution of 16MP and a top sensitivity rating of ISO 6400. Advanced image processing functions, made possible by the latest super-resolution technology, assure sharp, clear and high-resolution images in every picture.
Triple Anti-Shake Protection
When you are moving in a fast-paced environment you need your camera to keep up. The Ricoh WG-80 incorporates Triple Anti-Shake Protection to ensure blurred images are a thing of the past.
Pixel Track SR: when in image mode, this advanced shake-reduction feature effectively compensates for camera shake by digitally processing affected images.
Digital SR Mode: detects when photos are taken in low-light conditions to automatically raise the sensitivity up to as high as ISO 6400. Allowing for a faster shutter speed to be used and minimising any camera shake.
Movie SR Mode: when in movie mode, the camera compensates for the misalignment of images caused by camera shake through exclusive software producing blur-free films.
5x Optical Zoom
The Ricoh WG-80 camera has a 28mm wide-angle lens that can capture a wide array of photography scenes and subjects. The 5x optical zoom lens has a focal length coverage of 5mm-25mm (28mm-140mm equivalent to 35mm format).
Incorporating additional features, the camera can be highly adaptable to a number of scenarios. Intelligent Zoom, for example, extends the zoom range up to approximately 36x, equivalent to approximately 1008mm in 35mm format. This feature does not compromise image quality and essentially turns this compact 28mm lens into a telephoto.
Macro Function
Designed with photographing wildlife in mind, the Ricoh WG-80 has a dedicated Macro Mode that can be selected for close up photography, particularly assisted by the minimum focusing distance of just 1cm. When in Macro Mode, six lights surround the lens to illuminate the subject sufficiently. These lights are almost twice as powerful that the Ricoh WG-70 and feature a five-step intensity adjustment function.
Using the lens illumination greatly minimises camera shake. The lights can be used in a number of ways including Instant Illumination Enhance, which automatically raises the discharge level of the macro lights at the moment of shutter release. They can also be used in Self-Portrait Assist Mode and as a lighting device in the dark.
Everything under control
Be fully in control of the camera through the 2.7-inch LCD monitor. With horizontally extended 16:9 proportions and approximately 230000 dots for detailed playback. The monitor has an Anti-Reflective (AR) coating that allows for easy viewing even in bright daylight. And for particularly bright environments, the Outdoor View Setting Mode enhances this further.
Full HD Movie Mode
Record in Full HD at 30fps in H.264 format for detailed video that you can watch anywhere. The high-quality extended movie clips can be recorded in 1920 x 1080 px at 16:9 proportions. Capture the movement with the High-Speed camera function that allows for slow-motion playback at 1280 x 720 px. The WG-80 has a built-in Micro-HDMI terminal (type-D) for simultaneous output of Full HD movie clips and sound.
Wide Range of Shooting Modes
Enjoy a wide range of 25 different scene modes. When in certain modes the camera is able to auto-detect the correct exposure for each shooting mode. Modes include Auto Face-Recognition, which can detect up to 32 faces in just 0.03 seconds. Taking the image automatically when it detects a smile, and indicating when eyes are closed in pictures.
