The Pentax KF is an APSC Digital SLR camera featuring a state-of-the-art CMOS sensor, clear-view optical viewfinder, low-noise accelerator and imaging engine, vari-angle LCD monitor, and a number of intuitive and customisable functions that give users full creative freedom no matter the light-levels or weather conditions.

Outstanding high-resolution images
A state-of-the-art CMOS image sensor with an AA-filter-free optical design gives this APS C format camera super-high-resolution imaging capabilities. The Pentax KF delivers approximately 24.24 effective megapixels and high-speed 14-bit image data readout, as well as housing an in-body shake-reduction system with a 4.5 shutter-step compensation, so even new users can easily enjoy the creative process of digital imaging and full-scale SLR photography.
Through coupling a high-performance accelerator unit with the high-speed PRIME MII imaging engine, the Pentax KF manages to minimise noise at all sensitivity levels, while also capturing rich-gradation, fine-detailed images, even in the most high-sensitivity shooting situations at a top sensitivity of ISO 102400.
Advanced and user-friendly viewfinder
Compact and with user-friendly features, such as a pentaprism-type optical viewfinder with a nearly 100% field of view and 0.95-times magnification, as well as a double e-dial system, the Pentax KF brings both new and pre-existing aspects usually seen on higher-level models, to its versatile and practical design. The viewfinder contains a new glass prism finder which grants you a large and clear observation of the subject, for quick confirmation of framing and focus.
Pentax-original shooting features, such as the Hyper Program system further aid the user, allowing instant switching of the exposure mode from Program to Aperture-priority or Shutter-priority without the need to take their eye off the viewfinder.
High-speed hybrid AF
The camera features a high-precision autofocus system with SAFOX X AF sensor module, comprising of 11 sensors including nine cross-type sensors in the middle. This ensures quick autofocus operation during Live View shooting. A host of focusing features help keep your images sharp, with a Select-area Expansion function to track moving subjects via neighbouring focusing points, and an AF Hold function to maintain focus in a specific plain even when the sensor has lost sight of the subject.
Vari-angle LCD monitor
The brand new vari-angle LCD monitor can be positioned at a wide variety of angles, enabling you to capture high-angles using outstretched arms, low-angle ground-level shots, or aim directly upwards for astronomical photography. It also features a unique air-gapless construction, in which the air space between the high-definition LCD panel and the protective cover has been filled with a special resin, reducing the reflection and dispersion of light for improved visibility during outdoor shooting. In addition to the light-level adjustment of the LCD, the Pentax KF features a red-lighted monitor display setting which works to reduce strain on the photographer’s eye in dark locations.
Diverse and adaptable image processing functions
Incorporating a Pentax-developed Custom Image function, the Pentax KF lets you process images with a preferred finishing touch that matches your creative design or shooting environment. This function offers 14 Custom Image modes, such as; SATOBI, which gives images cyan-tinged blues, subdued yellows and faded reds resembling the colour pictures of the 60s and 70s; Bleach Bypass, which recreates the profound atmosphere of movie scenes; and Cross Processing, which adds fantastic, unusual colours to captured images. The Pentax KF can also be combined with Pentax Limited-series lenses, popular for their distinctive image renditions, to produce a series of special-edition Custom Image modes.
Durable construction
Designed to be dustproof, weather-resistant, and provide dependable cold-proof performance in temperatures as low as -10°C, the Pentax KF is capable of performing well in a wide range of outdoor settings and weather conditions.
