Pentax K-3 Mark III Monochrome HD DA 16-50mm F2.8ED PLM AW Kit
The Pentax K-3 Mark III Monochrome is a digital SLR camera with an APS-C sensor and approximately 25.73 effective megapixels, producing sharp monochrome images rich in gradation.
This kit contains the Pentax K-3 Mark III Monochrome and HD DA 16-50mm F2.8ED PLM AW Lens.
Monochrome-specific CMOS image sensor
The specifically designed CMOS image sensor works by reflecting the brightness data captured by each pixel, rather than the usual interpolation process. This allows for more accurate and extra-fine monochromatic expression, producing high-resolution and rich gradation images. The highly sensitive light reproduction also creates a natural bokeh effect on defocussed areas.
Professional-level Image Quality
With 25.73 effective megapixels, the back-illuminated sensor produces incredibly sharp images with very low levels of noise. When this performance is paired with an ISO range of 200 to a super-high 1,600,000 you can rest assured that the K-3 Mark III Monochrome will produce professional-level images in daylight and when working in low-light situations.
Custom image modes
The K-3 Mark III Monochrome features three custom image modes which offer different finishing touches for your monochrome photography. These include the cameras’ Standard mode, a Hard mode to increase contrast, and a Soft mode for creating low-contrast images.
Minute adjustments are also possible, offering the ability to personalise the tone, key, contrast, and sharpness of your shot.
AutoFocus
The K-3 Mark III Monochrome utilises the K-3 Mark III’s SAFOX 13 phase comparison autofocus system. There are a total of 101-point (25 cross-type positioned centrally) phase-matching autofocus points and in order to focus reliably when shooting in low light or at night, three special sensors are centrally positioned which already work at an EV of -4.
The Mark III also features a joystick on the rear for users to manually select the focus points.
Image Stabilisation
The in-built Shake Reduction System prevents camera shake that can easily occur when working with slow shutter speeds or even with longer focal length lenses. The K-3 Mark III’s Image Stabilisation works across 5-axis. In addition to sensor rotation, and horizontal and vertical shift, the K-3 Mark III also features horizontal and vertical tilt correction which can occur when shooting style of photography such as macro.
The image stabilisation system allows for up to 5.5EV stops of stabilisation. Making handheld images and video even easier to obtain and keep looking sharp and precise.
Movie Capabilities
With the ability to record 4K at a cinematic 24p and 30p, the Pentax K-3 Mark III can also film up to 60p in Full HD. The Mark III has a built-in stereo mic and is compatible with external stereo recording via the 3.5mm mic jack. The recording sound level is adjustable and also includes Wind Noise Reduction for those filming outside.
One of the two SD card slots is prepared for the UHS-II standard in order to be able to process the data volumes at high frame rates or video recordings accordingly.
Pentaprism Viewfinder
The Mark III’s optical viewfinder provides approx 100% coverage and a 1.05x magnification. Whilst using the OVF, you’re able to view the AF Points, Grid Display, Electronic Level, AF Frame, Spot Metering Frame, Crop, Smart Function and Operation Control Lock.
The high-refractive-index glass prism allows for wide relief while providing a wide field of view, equivalent to that of a 35mm full-frame DSL camera. The viewfinder delivers a clear and life-like image without distortion thanks to a distortion-correcting optical element that optimises the lens coatings.
LCD Monitor
The rear 1620K-dot 3.2-inch LCD monitor allows for real-time viewing of your subject or scene in high resolution. The LCD monitor is touchscreen-enabled with intuitive menu control and image zoom function during image playback.
High frame rate
The mirror and shutter mechanism, processor technology, and fast image processing enable the Mark III to shoot 32 RAW files at up to 12fps. At 2.5 frames per second in JPG, the camera can capture 90 images before the camera has to save. Despite this high workload, the shutter is designed to last for at least 300,000 shots.
Lightweight and Portable
The Body Only comes in at 735g which makes the K-3 Mark III Monochrome lightweight and portable. A weatherproof housing construction allows the K-3 III to be resistant to temperatures as low as -10ºC and has 95 seals that protect against dust and moisture.
