Pentax has based the design of their new HD FA 50mm f1.4 Lens on the SMC PENTAX-FA 50mmF1.4, which was first launched in 1991 for film-format SLR cameras. This is due to a rise in popularity of the base model that produced distinctive image renditions at open and larger apertures. This version of the lens features a high-grade, multi-layer HD coating that produces high-contrast images with edge-to-edge sharpness.
The Pentax SMC FA 50mm f1.4 Classic Lens is also available.
HD Coating
The HD FA 50mm f1.4 Lens features the latest, high-grade, multi-layer HD (High-Definition) Coating. This helps to reduce average reflectance as well as improving light transmittance for high-contrast images with edge-to-edge sharpness.

The exterior design of the HD FA 50mm f1.4 matches Pentax’s latest digital SLR models while retaining the dimensions of the original 1991 version. This allows you to use it seamlessly with the K-series of digital SLR cameras.
