Panasonic HC-X2E Camcorder
The Panasonic HC-X2E Camcorder improves upon features of the Panasonic HC-X1E by introducing 3G SDI Output, Wi-Fi connectivity and Face Detection AF/AE. Its 15MP 1-inch MOS sensor captures footage at 4K 60p/24p and Full HD 60p. With numerous professional features, this camcorder is ideal for videographers on location.
Fixed Lens
The fixed 24.5mm lens offers a wide-angle perspective for capturing the whole scene with very little distortion. This focal length can be increased up to 490mm when filming in UHD or FHD. The HC-X2E also has a 20x optical zoom and a 32x intelligent zoom in full HD and 24x in Ultra HD.
Variable Frame Rate
Enjoy time-warping effects that add depth and creativity to your films. Capture super slow Full HD or MOV footage at 120fps at 59.94Hz or 100fps at 50Hz. Alternatively, record between 2fps and 60fps with 10-step VFR for fast motion.
High-Precision AF
The updated and improved Face Detection AF/AE system paired with Panasonic’s 4k high-precision autofocus awards a remarkable optical performance. Select your focus area to accomplish fast and accurate autofocus while tracking. With this increased stability the subject remains in focus even when obstacles pass through the image.
Optical Image Stabilisation
Hybrid Optical Image Stabilisation combines Optical and Electronic IS for an overall improved 5-axis stabilisation. Depending on your shot select either Normal (for standard handheld shooting), Stable (for fixed frame shooting), or Pan/Tilt (for capturing panning or tilting shots).
Internal OIS uses a Ball OIS System, to reduce the wear on the drive section and improve small-amplitude blurring.
3G-SDI Output
Transmit video and embedded audio up to 3GBps with the 3G-SDI Output. As an SDI, connection timecodes and metadata are all embedded in a single cable. The convenience and reliability of the single cable transfer allows for a more consistent transmission during live productions. The 3G-SDI connection can be used to transmit FHD 1080/60p and 1080/50p signals over a distance of up to 100m.
Triple Manual Rings
The body of the HC-X2 has been contracted with triple manual rings on the barrel of the lens. Each of these controls a different aspect of the camcorder – focus, zoom and iris – enabling easy adjustments and overall intuitive handling.
Focus Ring Control
Employ either linear or non-linear focus control with the adjustable focus ring. Select non-linear control for the focus to respond to the speed of the focus ring, or linear control for the focus to adjust based on the rotation angle.

Built-in ND Filters
Select either 1/4, 1/16, 1/64 or clear ND filters for convenient lighting control on set. Quickly adjust to your filming environment with the built-in ND filters that can be applied in seconds for shooting at a slower shutter speed or in bright daylight.
HDR Recording
Render images in High Dynamic Range, for a final image that has true-to-life colour and a wide 13-stop dynamic range. Along with other VARICAM and LUMIX camera systems, the HC-X2E supports both V-Log and V-Gamut logs. This cross-continuity between systems ensures footage from different cameras blend seamlessly together when colour graded.
Hybrid Log Gamma
The X2 has also introduced Hybrid Log Gamma (HLG) for HDR recording. HLG codes SDR and HDR footage into the same broadcasting signal for a wider option for playback sampling. This can be very useful during broadcasts of live events, as the signal can be read by both types of devices with minimal loss of image quality.
Multiple connective options
Simultaneous SDI and HDMI connections allow you to output footage across an HDMI in Ultra HD 422 10-bit and, in the same instant, output Full HD 422 10-bit footage across an SDI connection. This allows you to maintain a high-image quality output that is compatible with various applications. Only one of the LCD or EVF displays can be shown when SDI/HDMI is output simultaneously.
Dual SD Card slots
Capture dual codec recording with dual SD card slots, which provided the option for unlimited relay recording. Adjust your preferred recording style to match your workflow, including Dual Codec recording, Unlimited Relay recording, Simultaneous Recording and Background recording.
Recording modes
Dual Codec and Simultaneous Recording modes record to both SD slots at the same time. Use Dual Codec to record 4k/UHD and FHD codec at the same time for an efficient workflow and to back up data as you record.
Unlimited Relay recording can be used to record continuously by automatically switching between a full and empty SD card.
Background Recording uses the main SD card to record data based on the start/stop recording control slot 2 to record all data even when the camcorder is stopped. During the editing process, this recording mode can provide you with extra data and information that might not have been picked up by the first card.
3.5-inch LCD Screen
The 3.5-inch LCD screen can be folded out of the way or rotated 180° for self-shooting. The 2,760K-dot monitor uses an RGB pixel structure to achieve high legibility even in bright sunlight. The image is constantly displayed on the LCD monitor thanks to the simultaneous output, regardless of whether the EVF is being viewed. The X2E also has a tiltable viewfinder and eyecup with a 1,769K-dot equivalent colour viewfinder.
IR Shooting
The Panasonic HC-X2 can be paired with commercially available IR lights to shoot in the dark. Perfect for unlit nightscapes, or animals in nature. The additional IR Cut Filter can be turned on or off and the IR Record Colour can be selected as either white or green.
High-Resolution PCM Audio Recording
Two XLR audio inputs and a 3.5mm headphone output are available on the body. Connect an external microphone via the XLR input with its switchable 48-V phantom power supply/MIC/Line. In MOV mode, 24-bit linear PCM recording delivers high-resolution sound quality. A volume control dial allows two channels of control.
Long Life Battery
The AG-VBR59 is supplied with the HC-X2E. This battery has an improved run time of up to 3 hours 50 minutes and an approximate charge time of 3 hours 20 minutes. Sold separately, the AG-VBR89 and AG-VBR118 batteries are larger, offering up to 7 hours 40 minutes run time. Each battery has an indicator to display the remaining charge level.
Professional Assist Functions
A number of assist functions help with capturing the highest quality footage available. Features include waveform monitor, vector scope and the zebra pattern for a final image that has perfectly balanced colour, low lights and highlights.
The HC-X2E features flash band correction to resolve the flash band phenomenon unique to MOS sensors. The presence of luminance level adjustment enables you to accurately match brightness levels during editing.
For handheld low-angle and high-angle shooting, the level gauge feature allows the camera tilt to be checked on screen.

FAQ
What is the difference between the HC-X2E and the HC-X20E?
The HC-X2E has additional features including an HLG 13-stop V-log, TC in/out, 3G SDI output, and ethernet capabilities.
What is linear and non-linear focus ring control?
A nonlinear focus ring control setting allows the focus to respond to the speed of the focus ring. For example, this means that when moving the focus ring in a fast motion the focus will also change quickly, however when rotating the focus ring in a slow steady motion the focus will adjust at a much slower speed.
Linear focus ring control has been created to enable the focus to respond based on the rotation angle of the focus ring. This lets you more accurately control focus without overextending your hand or wrist, which might occur in a nonlinear focus setting. You can set the focus ring angle when linear is selected, pre-selecting the angle of rotation allows you quickly train your hand to know where your focus is, providing a more accurate and efficient filming process.
Is the Panasonic HC-X2E wifi enabled?
The HC-X2E has a built-in ethernet connection and a wireless WiFi connection. Connecting a LAN cable to the ethernet can allow for more stable live streaming when there isn’t consistent Wi-Fi available. A USB-C connection is also available, this can be used to connect your mobile device to serve as a hot spot for on-the-move streaming.
