The super-speedy f/2.8 aperture produces bright images of fantastic colour, even in low-light scenarios. The lens consists of 10 elements in 7 groups including 1 ED element, 1 aspherical lens element, and a fluorine-coated front lens element. 9 rounded aperture blades create smooth bokeh that is characteristic of macro photography. The total construction of this 50mm Z combines to form a lens of excellent image quality, ideal for those who are looking to start photographing true macro images.
Fluorine Coating
The front lens element is coated with Fluorine to resist water, oil, dust, smudges, and fingerprints, ensuring that the lens will produce tack-sharp images every time no matter the environment. The coating also increases the lens life longevity by preventing irreversible damage to the lens such as pen, paint or oil sticking to the front element.
Photograph in three magnification ratios
Choose whether to shoot at a magnification ratio of 1:4, 1:2 or 1:1 (life-size) by aligning the lens to the clear barrel markings. The compact size of the lens balances beautifully on both Nikon Z series full-frame and Mirrorless DX-format cameras – when photographing on a DX mirrorless camera the lens will have a 75mm angle of view.
Super-sharp even centimeters away
Shoot incredible detail from just centimeters away. The NIKKOR Z MC 50mm f2.8 works with a fast STM AF drive motor that is able to focus on a subject from an incredible 5.6cm away, opening up a range of possibilities for detailed macro photography. The lens works with the in-camera VR to reduce shake and maintain steady shots.
Choose between two focus options; FULL or 0.3m-0.16m depending on the nature of what is being photographed. FULL is suitable for most photographic scenarios. Whereas the dedicated 0.3m-0.16m switch is perfect for making macro focus adjustments when photographing subjects such as insects that are moving close to the frame.
Precise, easy control functions
With the addition of the Silent Control Ring, you can be even more in control of the camera. Adjust aperture, ISO, and more via the control ring for increased creative results and a more intuitive shooting process (available with compatible cameras). Instantly switch between manual and autofocus via the dedicated on-lens switch. The lens also has near-silent focusing that won’t startle any insects or small animals whilst preparing for the shot.
