The Leica SL3 Mirrorless Camera delivers images of superior quality and detail in three different resolutions. Its full-frame sensor with Triple Resolution Technology, in conjunction with the legendary Leica lenses, operates in three different resolutions: 60, 36, and 18 megapixels, in both DNG and JPG formats. The Leica SL3's 60-megapixel sensor offers a dynamic range of up to 15 stops, 14-bit colour depth, and exceptionally good noise reduction, guaranteeing breath-taking images.
Precise focus in any light
The SL3’s innovative hybrid autofocus system combines three technologies using efficient algorithms. Depending on the shooting situation, the interplay of phase detection (PDAF), depth map (Object Detection AF), and contrast detection (Contrast Detection AF) are optimally adjusted. These autofocus technologies’ strengths are combined into a highly precise system that effortlessly meets all the needs of a professional creator. When used in conjunction with the ISO range of 50 to 100,000, the SL3 produces perfectly sharp images in any light.
Photographing dynamic scenes is supported by intelligent subject recognition, while the SL3’s 5-axis image stabilisation (IBIS) works effectively to compensate for any camera shake giving you blur-free photos and video.
User-friendly and customisable
A trusted creative companion to your inspiration, the SL3 has many features that aim to streamline your workflow. This includes a noticeably more compact and lighter build, a high-resolution tiltable display, and a Leica UX design that guarantees swift and personalised operation.
The sophisticated icon and menu design, touch screen with gesture control, structured navigation, adaptable user interfaces, and a clear distinction between photo and video modes thanks to their unique colour scheme (red for photo and yellow for video), make the SL3 ergonomically friendly at all levels.
For quick access to your ideal setup, freely assignable FN buttons and additional controls are included, as well as the customisable allocation of frequently used functions in the control centre on the tiltable 3.2-inch touch display. Thanks to the SL3’s floating design, the icons on the display automatically adjust to the camera's orientation, ensuring optimal readability. Plus, with the new BP-SCL6 battery and energy-saving standby mode, the SL3 is ready to shoot at a click of the shutter button.
Compact and durable
The SL3 fits perfectly in the hand, with a weight that is optimised to ensure perfect balance with all currently available Leica L-Mount lenses, making the SL3 an ideal tool for creative professionals. The elegant leather finish, also found on the multifunctional handgrip (sold separately), provides an optimal grip and a sophisticated feel.
The robust construction of the Leica SL3 is designed to stand up to the rigours of everyday use, providing increased longevity and reliability. The solid full metal housing is IP54 certified, ensuring extended protection from moisture and dust. This means that the SL3 can be used for photo and video even in harsh production environments.
Connectivity at all levels
The SL3's functions have been enhanced to allow for professional-level data transfer and wireless connectivity. There are slots for CFexpress Type B and UHS-II SD cards, a USB-C port for quick data transfer, tethering, and charging, as well as an HDMI Type-A output for external monitors or recording devices. In video productions with multiple cameras, a dedicated timecode interface enables image and sound synchronisation. Additionally, the Leica SL3 features Bluetooth and Wi-Fi with MIMO technology providing a stable and quick connection to the Leica FOTOS App. In less than two seconds, photos with full DNG resolution can be transferred from the camera to a mobile device.
Maestro IV Processor
The Maestro IV Processor with L2 Technology produces the iconic Leica Look in all the available pixel choices. The Leica SL3's photo and video applications are quickly and reliably run by this state-of-the-art image processor, allowing recording up to 8K Video HEVC (.h265) and ProRes. Using L2 technology this high-performance processor brings many benefits to photography and videography, including enhanced noise characteristics, quick signal processing, and the distinctive Leica colour reproduction. The Maestro IV is of particular note to videographers because of its ability to record 8K videos as well as a variety of highly efficient video codecs while supporting the CFexpress Type B interface's data transfer speed.
High-Resolution EyeRes Viewfinder
High-quality coated glass lenses have been used to create the electronic viewfinder for the SL3's eyepiece. With a resolution of 5.76 million pixels and up to 120 B/s, this allows for the best display of the OLED viewfinder’s internal image. This lets you accurately see the Live Preview to assess the composition and exposure before shooting. When the camera isn't held directly to the eye, an automatic switch between the viewfinder and the Live-View display is made thanks to the integrated eye sensor, so you never miss a shot.

How does the resolution choice work?
The user is able to select, through the menu system, what resolution they wish to shoot at. Choose between photographing at 60, 36, and 18 megapixels. The resolution is then decreased via pixel binning.
What is Pixel Binning?
The process in which the camera takes a group of four adjacent pixels (in a 2x2 quad) and combines them. Treated as one extra-large pixel, the image size is reduced along with image noise.
What is the benefit of Triple Resolution Technology?
Choice resolution is an incredibly beneficial feature. It means that the camera is able to work with you and your current requirements. The lower resolution options enable faster camera performance, extended burst lengths, and smaller file sizes.
What is the capacity of the new battery?
The new BP-SCL6 battery has been designed with a capacity of 2200mAh, this provides you with a 17% higher performance compared to the previous BP-SCL4 battery.
