Leica D-Lux 8 Digital Camera
The eighth generation in the Leica D-Lux family, the D-Lux 8 is the affordable entry point into getting the Leica Look. Uncomplicated and authentic Leica, the D-Lux 8 is designed to have everything a hobbyist or entry-level photographer needs to begin taking exquisite images.
“Leica Look” Image Quality
A micro-four-thirds camera, the D-Lux 8 has a 21MP CMOS sensor, with 17MP effective pixels. It is also the first D-Lux camera to feature the versatile DNG format, making post-processing and editing more streamlined and adaptable.
Leatherette Body
The acclaimed Leica Q-cameras have inspired the overall design and user interface. The D-Lux 8 sees a complete redesign compared to the Leica D-Lux 7. A first for the D-Lux system, the D-Lux 8 has the same leatherette covering as the Leica Q3 which, along with the thumb grip, provides excellent grip and a luxurious feeling in the hand.
Uncomplicated Photography
One of the main desires for this camera is to be uncomplicated. To achieve this, Leica has cleaned the button layout on the back of the camera, leaving only the “Play”, “Menu”, navigation wheel and two function buttons. When coupled with the shutter dial on top of the camera and the aperture ring on the fixed lens, the result is a more intuitive camera.
The menu has also been minimised so that only the essential functions and settings remain. This simplified design, inside and out, draws you towards the main point of this camera: photography.
Fixed Lens
The D-Lux 8 features a fixed DC Vario-Summilux 10.9-34mm f1.7-2.8 ASPH lens. It has the 35mm equivalent to a 24-75mm focal range which is highly adaptable to a wide array of photographic practices. As an ASPH lens, it can be guaranteed to produce sharp images to the edge of the frame, while remaining compact and lightweight. The wide aperture range of f1.7-2.8 throughout the zoom encourages bright photography even in dim lighting conditions.
Seamless FOTOS App Connectivity
As the photographic practice becomes more streamlined from camera to online, connectivity becomes an increasingly important aspect of a modern camera. The D-Lux 8 does not disappoint and features excellent connectivity to the Leica FOTOS app, providing you with an efficient way to share your photography.
