Hasselblad X1D II 50C - Compact, Powerful and Enhanced.
The Hasselblad X1D II 50C is the latest camera in the brand’s vision to bring medium format out of the studio. Listening to feedback from real photographers, the next chapter of this series features have even further advanced electronics. It has been designed to vastly improve the overall user experience.
What are the main features of Hasselblad X1D II 50C?
Based on the already award-winning design of the Hasselblad X1D-50C, the X1D II 50 follows with another compact lightweight construction. In true Hasselblad fashion, it is built into a truly stunning camera body.
It features a large 3.6in touchscreen display plus an impressive electronic viewfinder. A fast live view refresh rate plus very user-friendly interface makes this camera extremely easy and comfortable to handle.
Hasselblad’s superb range of optics pairs up with this camera to give an endless amount of creative opportunity. This includes the HC/HCD, Xpan, V System and XCD lenses.
Further user-friendly features include USB-C and Wi-Fi connectivity to the Phocus Mobile 2 app. Drastically improve your workflow on the go with an iPad Pro.
Taking Medium Format image quality out of the studio
The X1D II 50C offers the capacity of Medium Format, in a body which is smaller than your typical full-frame 35mm camera. A large 50-megapixel medium format CMOS sensor, measuring 43.8 x 32.9mm offers a broad dynamic 14 stop range and incredible depth of colour.
Hasselblad's Natural Colour Solution tech will deliver stunning and highly realistic tones. Despite the compact design, it still gives high imaging standards in 16-bit RAW and full res JPEG.
HUI Hasselblad User Interface
The X1D II 50C features a 3.6in 2.36 million dot rear touchscreen display. This is met with a 3.69 million dot OLED electronic viewfinder. The powerful resolution gives a highly realistic view of your image once captured.
The EVF has advanced from previous models. It has a larger display and magnification of 0.87x. The menu is accessible through the EVF. This reduces any need for ‘chimping’ allowing you to focus on the subject.
Advanced electronics
Updates to the electronic platform give a rapid and responsive overall performance. The resulting upgrades give a smooth and quick interface making the camera very easy to get along with.
Live view through the rear display and the EVF is sublime. With a frame rate of 60fps, you get a vivid viewing experience. This is particularly prominent on the 1024x768 display.
It also has Dual SD Card slots with UHS-II support. This offers you a secure backup while making the most of the capabilities of the processing power.
Refined menu system and controls
Hasselblad has further developed the Mark 2, from X1D Mark 1’s interface. Intuition can be found in the pinch-zoom interface, plus swipe image browsing which allows easy navigation. This is held up by high-performance processing power.
The power of this camera gives a fast startup, plus reduced shutter lag and blackout between frames. A live view with a 60fps refresh rate makes for excellent user experience.
Autofocus point drag and drop placement and point size changes are available at your fingertips through the rear display.
Vast options for connectivity
The Phocus Mobile 2 app tethers via Wi-Fi and USB-C. Improve your workflow with image export and shoot using the app. The tethered shooting is also possible with a desktop version for PC and Mac.
Phocus Mobile 2 makes image editing on the go easier than ever. It's supported on iPad pro and iPad Air 2019 models. It will allow you to download and organise images. You can edit not just JPEGS, but RAW image files as well.
A built-in GPS module gives automated geotagging of your images. In-camera battery charging is possible via a USB-C connection, great for when you’re on the go.
Award winning design concept
Working from the 1st generation’s design concept, the X1D II 50C continues to deliver excellent handling, build and aesthetics.
A high-quality body, milled from solid aluminium hosts a minimalist number of buttons and controls. They have focused most of the advanced settings to be controlled through the large rear display.
A deep set grip allows a secure hold. It also has an internal battery slot that smoothly ejects the battery by sliding a release catch.
Ingeniously, Hasselblad lenses have the shutter built-in. Rather than the body, this reduces the weight and size, giving a very compact body for a medium format camera.
Full range of Hasselblad optics
The X1D II 50C is open to 12 HC/HCD and 9 XCD lenses. As well as adapters that open it up to the XH, V System and Xpan lenses.
The XCD, HC/HCD lenses all have a central lens shutter. These will deliver full flash synchronisation. In X System lenses, this is still up to an impressive 1/2000 of a second.
Durability in the design is found with metal components. This is met with rigorous testing.
