This new XF lens from Fujifilm replaces the previous XF 35mm f1.4 R Fujinon Lens. The Fujifilm XF 33mm f1.4 R LM WR lens has an equivalent full-frame focal length of 50mm, making it a fantastic all-around lens that is particularly suited to portraiture as well as travel snapshots. Advanced mobility in build
The XF33mm f1.4 R LM WR is a highly rugged and durable lens, weighing just 360g and measuring 73.5mm long, it is designed to withstand whatever life throws at you. It is resistant to both dust and moisture and the shape of the knurling on the focus ring is designed specifically to be easy to clean, enabling the lens to withstand more than just a studio setting. The lens is weather-sealed in eleven locations and can be used in temperatures as low as -10℃ opening up the potential for rain, astro and winter photography. The focus ring has an improved control resolution that is particularly noticeable during manual focusing at a shallow depth of field. Within the focus ring, a gear pitch detects advanced movement enabling the linear focusing mechanism to respond precisely to the subtlest fingertip. The A (auto) Position Lock is another useful mechanism that locks the aperture ring preventing unintentional adjustment during a shoot.

Fujifilm constantly aims to make strides in their field and the XF 33mm f1.4 R LM WR lens is no different. This lens consists of 15 elements in 10 groups, including 2x Aspherical and 3x Extra-Low Dispersion elements. This construction specifically tackles chromatic and spherical aberrations, ensuring the lens delivers edge-to-edge sharpness even when wide open. Boasting a maximum f1.4 aperture, the lens produces high-quality, low-noise images even in minimal light conditions. Shooting at f1.4 alongside the nine rounded aperture blades also provides a shallow depth-of-field rendering beautifully creamy bokeh.
Prime intuition
The most popular prime focal length for a photographic lens is 33mm (equivalent to 50mm in 35mm film format). This focal length provides an angle of view that is closest to that of the human eye. This bond between photographer and lens creates a natural perspective that feels intuitive to photograph in. It is suitable for a wide variety of photographic styles including portraiture, landscapes, snapshots and so much more. This broad shooting range is further complemented by the XF lens’ advanced close-up capability of a minimal working distance of just 30cm and a maximum magnification of 0.15x.

The XF 33mm f1.4 R LM WR has an extremely fast autofocus drive system. Its inner linear motor uses smaller focusing elements that result in silent, fast and highly accurate AF. It keeps the range of movements for the focusing lens groups small while precisely controlling the amount of focusing required within the range, ensuring that focus is attained in as fast as 0.04 seconds. Even when using AF-C mode, mainly used in video recording, the linear motor AF is fast and precise, and the design minimises changes in the angle of view, reducing focus breathing, and improving this lens as one that can be used for full-fledged video production.
