Fujifilm XF 23mm f1.4 R LM WR
The Fujifilm XF 23mm f1.4 R LM WR is the new lens from Fujifilm. Replacing the old XF 23mm f1.4 R Fujinon Lens, this new edition features improvements including increased resolution, a fast and silent internal focusing linear motor and a weather-resistant body for enhanced durability. It has the equivalent focal length of a 35mm lens in full-frame format and has a wide range of creative applications including for portraits, landscapes and as an all-around photography lens.
Shoot fast
The Fujifilm XF 23mm f1.4 is a lens built for the fast-paced photographer. The f1.4 aperture is incredibly speedy, even in low light conditions, making night photography a breeze. The lens’ internal focusing linear motor is fast, focusing in as little time as 0.04 seconds, and near-silent, making this suitable for videography as well as still image-making. Even when using AF-C mode, mainly used in video recording, the linear motor AF is fast and precise, and the design minimises changes in the angle of view, reducing focus breathing, and improving this lens as one that can be used for full-fledged video production.
Shoot precise
As well as being a fast shooter, the XF23mm f1.4 is also highly precise. Its inner focusing system keeps the range of movements for the focusing lens group small to improve the level of precision to ensure that a decisive photo opportunity is never missed. The lens also features a large manual focusing ring for further assurance that every moment within the making of each image is under complete control.
Superb resolution
Fujifilm prides itself on creating image-making tools that are packed with passion. Ensuring that what they are designing is perfect for your needs today and ready for tomorrow. The XF 23mm f1.4 R LM WR is ready for the ever-evolving photography landscape, capable of resolving up to 40 megapixels, this increased resolution provides stunning detail and vibrant colours in every shot. The lens boasts incredible detail owing to the 9 rounded diaphragm blades that allow for pinpoint focus and smooth background bokeh.
The lens is constructed out of 15 lens elements in 10 groups, including 2x Aspherical and 3x Extra-Low Distortion elements that combat and minimise chromatic and spherical aberrations. This construction delivers edge-to-edge sharpness even when wide open. Opening the lens up to the maximum aperture of f1.4 the XF23mm is able to render background details into a creamy bokeh to add contrast and depth to your images. The further benefits of this aperture range reduce noise in low-light conditions such as indoors and in night photography.
Lightweight & weather-resistant
The XF33mm f1.4 R LM WR is a highly rugged and durable lens, weighing just 375g and measuring 77.8mm long, it is designed to withstand whatever life throws at you. It is resistant to both dust and moisture and the shape of the knurling on the focus ring is designed specifically to be easy to clean, enabling the lens to withstand more than just a studio setting. The lens is weather-sealed in eleven locations and can be used in temperatures as low as -10℃ opening up the potential for rain, astro and winter photography. The focus ring has an improved control resolution that is particularly noticeable during manual focusing at a shallow depth of field. Within the focus ring, a gear pitch detects advanced movement enabling the linear focusing mechanism to respond precisely to the subtlest fingertip. The A (auto) Position Lock is another useful mechanism that locks the aperture ring preventing unintentional adjustment during a shoot.
Ideal all-day shooting
Shooting with the XF 23mm f1.4 R LM WR is a joy. With an equivalent focal length of 35mm on a full-frame sensor, this focal length is highly adaptable to a wide range of photography styles and genres from portraiture and landscapes, to macro and travel. It weighs just 375g and measures 77.8mm in length making it compact and lightweight for all-day shooting. It has a minimum working distance of just 19cm and a maximum magnification of 0.2x, a dramatic improvement upon the previous model, this upgrade enables the lens to capitalise on the dynamic wide-angle framing characteristics of this focal range. Pair with a CMOS sensor or full-frame mirrorless camera for a versatile system that will take you from morning to night.
