Fujifilm X100V Digital Camera
The Fujifilm X100V comes with some very welcome upgrades over its predecessor, the Fujifilm X100F. The introduction of the tilting screen will make those hard to view, high and low shots easier to capture. The aluminium upper and lower elements to the body will mean you can be a little more worry-free whilst outdoors with the camera, not to mention it's new weather resistant seal of approval (when used with the AR-X100 Adapter ring and the PRF-49 protection filter). Combined with the improved and faster AF (including eye AF) these features will make the Fujifilm X100V a very viable option for many Fujifilm upgraders and those looking to make the switch to Fujifilm for the first time.
Overview
Keeping that authentic and retro feel we’ve become accustomed to with the X100 series, the X100V is no different. Coming in classic Silver and Black options, the camera body is sleek, incredibly lightweight and so compact it will slide right into the tightest of pockets.
Perfect for the Adventurer
The ultimate travel companion, the Fuji X100V features a sharp and clear Fujinon f/2 lens with a fixed focal length of 23mm. The lens leads the camera to be a perfect pairing for the landscape or street photographer. The latest model now comes with 4K movies at 30fps, has a built-in 4 stop ND filter and can produce 420 shots from one charge.
Optical and Electronic Viewfinder
You can cycle through the hybrid viewfinder via a flick of a switch on the front of the camera - conveniently positioned so you don’t need to pull back from the camera to fiddle and potentially lose your shot. Offering a 95% frame coverage, the OVF provides parallax-correcting frame lines to provide an uninterrupted view of the world as it is. The improved EVF delivers a real-time representation of the image as it is being made. The Electronic Range Finder (ERF) function can also be selected to display a small EVF at the bottom right corner of the OVF, which gives image-makers another tool as they frame and make their images.
Functionality and Efficiency
In true Fujifilm X100 series style, the buttons are minimal and offer the user a very simplistic approach to their photography. With just 5 individual buttons, one jockey stick and one thumbwheel on the rear of the camera, you really can keep your photography to minimal messing and keep your attention on taking the actual image.
Upgraded ISO Wheel
The ISO wheel now has a lift and lock feature, allowing you to fix the wheel in an upright position whilst you dial in the chosen ISO. In previous models you had to pull this up and twist at the same time, proving a bit of a fumble when you’re out in the cold or even wearing gloves. The joystick button has been improved too and is now more user friendly and less likely to be nudged or clicked accidentally.
Thumbwheel Improvements
The thumbwheels located on the front and back of the camera can be used to make minor incremental adjustments to the shutter speed and ISO even when you’ve got them set using the classically styled dials on the top of the camera.
Build Quality
The aluminium upper and lower body will allow the photographer to be more adventurous without the worry of damaging the camera with the slightest knock. Even with this sturdy outer shell the camera is incredibly lightweight and will quite happily sit on a strap around your neck or wrist for long periods of time whilst you’re out and about. The X100V is also Weather Resistant when used in conjunction with the combined use of the AR-X100 Adapter ring and the PRF-49 protection filter.
Pocketable and Compact
The slim design and fixed lens mean the camera can very easily be slipped into a coat pocket when not in use. The provided lens cap is in keeping with the traditional Fujifilm vintage styling and simply pushes on and off the lens. No clicking or twisting involved, just a nice snug and secure push onto the end of the lens with no fear of it being knocked off.
AF Performance
The improved AF is speedy and accurate, taking just 0.02s, and is a welcome upgrade from the previous models. Being able to shoot at 11fps makes this lightweight and compact camera great for capturing high-speed action. Simply set the digital camera to high or low-speed burst and capture those fast-moving shots without losing focus on your subject.
Increased Focus Points
The X100V comes with 425 focus points (17 x 25) with 95% coverage. Shoot in RAW and various sizing of JPG to suit your output needs.
Film Simulation
The renowned Fujifilm image quality runs through the Fuji X 100 V and will easily rival the quality produced by the likes of its full-frame competitors. Film Simulation options provide a nostalgic film feel and give a real depth and intensity to the images.
Multiple Shooting Options
Shoot in HDR, Panorama, and multi-exposure options including AE Bracketing, White Balance Bracketing and ISO Bracketing.
Single Cable Charging
The X100V comes with a handy USB-C charging port, meaning you don’t need to carry as many battery chargers and cables to suit various electronic equipment whilst travelling.
Added Extras
Use the wide conversion lens (WCL-X100 II) or tele-conversion lens (TCL-X100 II) to extend X100V’s fixed 23mm focal length to a 28mm equivalent (0.8x) or 50mm (1.4x) equivalent lens on a 35mm format system. You can also add a genuine-leather case (LC-X100V) to the X100V to complement its classic design while giving complete access to the camera’s battery and memory card whilst in place.
