Fujifilm GFX 50S II Medium Format Camera
The Fujifilm GFX 50S II updates many of the features from the hugely popular 50S. While still boasting the same high resolution 51.4MP CMOS Sensor of its predecessor, the 50S II also features an X Processor 4, for faster auto-focussing, 6 stops of IBIS, 19 film simulations and a vast range of exposure controls. All of this is housed in a more compact and lightweight body design that mimics the GFX 100S.

Design and build
The GFX 50S II has been designed to be compact and lightweight. Weighing in at just 900g and measuring 104.2mm high and 87.2mm deep (body only), you get all the power and features of a medium format camera in a body that is closer in size to a full-frame camera.
This has been made possible thanks to a redesigned in-body image stabilisation (IBIS) system that is 20% smaller and 10% lighter than the version that is found in the GFX 100. This provides an impressive 6.5 stops of five-axis stabilization despite its notable reduction in size and weight. This allows the user to use slower shutter speeds in low light situations even when a tripod is not available.
The camera has been constructed from magnesium alloy and has been weather sealed at 60 locations making it dust and moisture resistant as well as being able to operate in temperatures as low as -10oC.
Ease of use has been assured thanks to a comfortable grip, a Mode dial on the top panel and 6 customizable positions, that allows the user to register their choice of functions so that they can activate them quickly. There is also a selector so that you can easily switch between photo and video modes as well as a flat-shaped focus lever that reduces physical discomfort even after extended use.
51.4MP CMOS Sensor
The Fujifilm GFX 50S II features the same high resolution 51.4MP CMOS sensor as the 50S. This produces an effective resolution of 51.4 million pixels and when paired with high-performance GF lenses, will deliver superior tones and sharpness.
Light is recorded to the pixel, which is 1.7 times larger than a full-frame sensor to produce a wide dynamic range and a high signal-to-noise ratio. This results in an image that reproduces deep tonality and texture from shadows to highlights, and delivers image clarity with minimal noise even in low light situations.
X Processor 4
New to the GFX 50S II is the high-speed processing engine “X processor 4”. This is the same processor that is used in the 100S and features an improved algorithm with an autofocus system with an enhanced refresh rate to ensure that the subject is in constant focus when using all modes including face and eye detection.
The readout speeds of the sensor have been increased from 130fps to 250fps* to ensure razor-sharp responses in tracking a subject or picking out a face in the crowd.

19 Film Simulations
There are 19 film simulations included with the GFX 50S II, including “Nostalgic Neg.” which offers high saturation and soft tonality. You can check how the presets will affect the final image in Live View.
The 19 modes are;
PROVIA/ Standard, Velvia/ Vivid, ASTIA/ Soft, Classic Chrome, PRO Neg.Hi, PRO Neg.Std, Classic Neg., Nostalgic Neg., ETERNA/ Cinema, ETERNA BLEACH BYPASS, ACROS, ACROS + Ye Filter, ACROS + R Filter, ACROS + G Filter, Black & White, Black & White + Ye Filter, Black & White + R Filter, Black & White + G Filter, Sepia.
3.2” Touchscreen LCD Monitor
The GFX 50S II features a 2.36M-dot, 3.2” Touchscreen LCD monitor on the rear panel and offers 100% coverage. The monitor can be tilted in three directions to ensure that you can shoot at angles that would be impossible through the Electronic Viewfinder (EVF).
200MP Images
It is possible to generate 200MP images thanks to the camera's Pixel Shift Multi Shot function. This is made possible by utilizing the camera’s IBIS to shift the image sensor by 0.5 pixel to incrementally record 16 RAW images and then combine them into a single digital negative (DNG) RAW file in the software “Pixel Shift Combiner” to produce an ultra-high-definition 200MP image.
Fujifilm G Mount
The Fujifilm GFX 50 S II uses the G Mount, which has a mount diameter of 65mm, flange back distance of 26.7mm and minimum back focus distance of 16.7mm. It uses as many as 12 electronic contact points for sending and receiving data, plus it supports the use of a wide variety of lenses and accessories. The short back focus distance, made possible because of the Fujifilm mirrorless system's structure, affords greater freedom in lens design to contribute to the development of fast, compact and high-performance GF lenses while preventing vignetting to deliver edge-to-edge sharpness.
