Celestron PowerTank Lithium Pro

The extra-large capacity portable PowerTank Lithium Pro is for the true power user. Offering twice the battery capacity of the original Celestron Lithium Pro, the PowerTank powers your telescope as well as up to three other devices at the same time. With four separate charging ports, you will always have one suitable for any device. Unlike lead-acid batteries, the PowerTank Lithium Pro uses LiFePO4 making it smaller, lighter and safer.

Twice the power

The Celestron PowerTank Lithium Pro can power a telescope for up to 17 hours which is twice the battery capacity compared to the original Lithium Pro. Making it ideal for more demanding applications and longer observation periods.

Accommodate any device

With an array of four different ports and connections, you will always find a connection point to suit whichever device needs charging. You’ll find a 12V DC 5A telescope power port (Celestron cable included), a 12V DC 10A car battery adapter port, and two 5V DC USB ports including one 2.1 A and one that supports rapid charging.

Highly portable

Measuring only 8.75” tall and weighing 2.04kg, the PowerTank Lithium Pro is highly portable, making it a great accessory to have on weekend of camping or night of astroimaging in a remote dark sky location. Attach the power pack to a telescope tripod leg for a convenient and out of the way charging hub.

LED light

On the side of the unit is an LED strip light with both bright white and red LED that can illuminate for up to 25 hours. The red light is particularly useful during star parties to maintain dark adaption, and the white light can be used for cleaning up the observation area when the night is done.

Flight safe

At 158.72 Wh the PowerTank Lithium Pro meets current FAA regulations (160Wh) which means that it is safe to take in carry-on baggage. Please check with your airline to verify that they do not have stricter policies before flying.

Safer, lighter & environmentally friendly

The PowerTank Lithium Pro is powered by Lithium-Iron Phosphate (LiFePO4) which is safer to use than sealed lead-acid batteries. By using phosphates instead of environmentally hazardous elements such as cobalt or lead commonly found in other rechargeable batteries, Celestron’s PowerTanks are portable power that is more environmentally conscious.

FAQs

Which telescopes is the Celestron PowerTank Lithium Pro compatible with?

The PowerTank Lithium Pro will power any computerised mount telescope, including but not limited to:

Advanced VX, Astro Fi, NexStar Evolution, NexStar SE Series, and CGX-L

Why is a red flashlight good for astronomy?

A red light is used to maintain dark adaption for nighttime viewing. This means that when moving to view items such as a star chart or your telescope settings you are not requiring your pupils to contract and dilate as you switch between artificial light and the darkness of the night sky. A red light is chosen for this use because of where it falls on the visible light spectrum that allows the photoreceptors in our eyes to be able to see in very low light levels.

Can this charge my smartphone whilst powering the telescope?

Absolutely. The Celestron PowerTank Lithium Pro can be used to power any mobile device including smartphones and tablets. It contains enough battery power to fully recharge a smartphone whilst also powering your telescope
