Celestron AstroMaster 70EQ Telescope
The Celestron AstroMaster 70EQ Telescope is an excellent entry-level telescope that the whole family can enjoy. The 70EQ comes with everything you need to get started including a tripod and two eyepieces. A generous 70mm aperture shows the planets bright and clear for excellent nighttime viewing.
Manual German Equatorial Telescope
The 70mm refractor telescope is intuitive to use. Explore the sky with the two slow-motion control knobs that allow for fine pointing adjustments in both Right Ascension (RA) and Declinations (DEC) axes. The included tripod has an adjustable height of up to 1.3 meters and an accessory tray.
Become an AstroMaster in no time
Use the AstroMaster 70EQ straight out of the box. A no-tool setup takes just minutes and then you are ready to view the night sky. Download the Starry Night Basic Software with a 36,000 object database, printable sky maps and enhanced 3D renderings of stars, exoplanets and galaxies.
Two eyepieces
Included in this kit are two fully coated glass optics eyepieces: 20mm and 10mm. The 20mm provides a 45x optical magnification that is wide enough to locate deep-sky objects whilst also providing good detail. The 10mm eyepiece provides a 90x magnification for highly detailed observations of the Moon's craters and seas, the moons of Jupiter and the expansive Milky Way. Both eyepieces are manufactured to Celestron’s high-quality standards to ensure a bright, sharp view of the night sky every time.

FAQs
Can you use a Barlow lens with the Celestron AstroMaster Telescope?
Yes, you can! Partner this with a 2x or 3x 1.25” Barlow lens to double or triple the eyepiece’s magnification.
Which filters can I use with the eyepieces?
The eyepieces can take any 1.25” eyepieces. Why not check out the Celestron Moon Filter or Moon Filter Set to improve the contrast and observe the Moon in even more detail.
What is the difference between the AstroMaster 70AZ and the 70EQ?
The two telescopes share almost identical technical specifications. The main difference between the two is that the 70AZ is an Alt-Azimuth telescope that is controlled by a panhandle, whereas the 70EQ is a German Equatorial that is controlled via two slow-motion control knobs. These control knobs allow for more precise positioning and is therefore the more expensive out of the two.
Solar Warning
- Never look directly at the Sun with the naked eye or with an optic (unless you have the proper solar filter). Permanent and irreversible eye damage may result.
- Never use your optic to project an image of the Sun onto any surface. Internal heat build-up can damage the optic and any accessories attached to it.
- Never leave your optic unsupervised. Make sure an adult who is familiar with the correct operating procedures is with your optic at all times, especially when children are present.
