Benro Slim Video Tripod Kit Review
A tripod is essential to be able to create smooth and steady video and the Benro Slim Video Kit is great for this purpose. However, I mainly use it for astrophotography.
The pan and tilt head with its long handle is great for lining up shots of the night sky as I rely on the rear screen rather than the viewfinder. Being as lightweight and compact as it is, this is a great tripod to take out and about; I can easily carry it up the hills of the Cotswolds. It’s small enough to keep in the car so I’m always prepared for any opportunity.

Colour doesn’t normally matter to me when purchasing a tripod, but the metallic blue touches on the twist leg locks will perfectly complement the replica NASA flight jacket that is currently on my wish list.

The safety payload is 2.5kg and that is more than sufficient when I’m using the Sony A6300 (no longer available - check out the A6600) with Sony FE 100-400mm F4.5-5.6 GM OSS, which comes in at just under 1.8kg. The sliding tripod plate allows me to balance this heavier kit, and I can change the centre balance point when I put my smaller Sony FE 28mm f2 lens on when I’m taking photos of the Milky Way.
The legs are stable when locked and the various leg positions make it really easy to make sure weight is easily distributed so the tripod doesn’t fall over when using those longer lenses.
Although it’s not a noted feature, the soft carry case is actually surprisingly comfortable. The thick rope and toggle made it easy to use and reminded me of my old gym bag.
At the end of the day when I’m carrying heavy gear up a hill, the last thing I want is a heavy tripod to add to the load. The Benro Slim Video Tripod Kit is light enough, whilst being able to carry the payload I need and the price is affordable for those looking for a decent tripod with a 2-way head.
I give this tripod Sirius, Canopus, Arcturus, Alpha Centauri A and Vega… that’s five stars.
